This mouth-blown glass fountain is perfect for running the water used in a traditional absinthe ritual. By turning the fountain's tap, the amount of water can vary from a slow drip to a gentle stream. This fountain is equipped with metal spouts, which are easy to add.
Correct use consists of pouring an ounce of absinthe into an absinthe glass, then placing an absinthe spoon on the glass and a sugar cube on the spoon. The fountain lid is removed and fresh water and ice cubes are added to the glass bowl. The tap is turned slightly and the ice water drips slowly from the fountain onto the sugar cube. The cold sugar water then drips from the spoon into the glass of absinthe, releasing oils and perfuming the air with fennel, grand wormwood and anise. The combination also begins to take on a milky white color, as the water mixes with the anise.
The fountain can accommodate 1 to 2 people at a time. The proportion of drinks varies from 1 part absinthe to 3 to 5 parts water, depending on individual preference.
