Most of our fountains are reproductions of the most famous traditional absinthe fountains of the early 20th century. In the latter part of the 19th century, the originals were produced in Paris, France, by the Georges LONG company, the leading manufacturer of absinthe fountains and other absinthe accessories. Every aspect of many of our fountains has been meticulously reproduced from these originals. From the hand-engraved glass reservoir to the beads around the base, these pieces are made to be used. Our fountains are in daily use in bars and restaurants around the world, so you can rest assured that they will easily meet all your absinthe ritual needs.
During the French Belle Époque, absinthe fountains were most often found in upscale bars due to their high price. The waiter would bring it to the table, where the customer would prepare the absinthe himself. Fountains like these were (and still are) the preferred way to prepare absinthe, as the water flow can be easily controlled. Unfortunately, very few antique fountains have survived with their original glass bowls and spouts intact due to accidents, making them more collectible over time.
