This brouilleur is used to prepare absinthe in the reverse order of the usual drink preparation. It is designed to add absinthe to water, rather than water to absinthe, as is normally the case. The reservoir capacity is exactly one standard dose of absinthe, and the tip introduces the lighter alcohol directly to the bottom of the glass, where it floats and diffuses through the heavier water. The flat metal disk holds the tip and traps the louching absinthe aromas in the glass, until the absinthe is ready to drink.

The ice-cold water is poured into the glass first, then the Pourer is placed on top of your glass. The absinthe is poured into the 30 ml reservoir and, due to gravity, begins to flow through the tube into the water glass. Because the water is heavier than the absinthe, the absinthe is pushed to the top of the glass, mixing the two liquids together and creating the louche.

This pourer is an exact reproduction of a pre-interlock scrambler (pre-1915) used in Belle-Époque France.
